Increased complexity tackled by data
Logistics and supply chains have a crucial role in customer service experiences in every industry from manufacturing to ecommerce fulfillment services. Customers expect express deliveries for their uniquely tailored products as soon as they have placed the order. The efficient management of the increased unique product variants, smaller shipment sizes, and increased complexity requires accurate real-time data on all goods along the supply chain. RFID brings the item, asset, and pallet level data available for further optimization of the processes.
How to track accurately through the supply chain?
Supporting the accelerated digitalization of the supply chain, Confidex RFID tags and labels are used daily for identifying millions of assets across industrial and logistics businesses globally. These assets include everything from cardboard boxes to a wide range of returnable transit items such as metal cages, pallets and washable plastic crates. RFID applications to track and trace goods from supplier to customers have become standard in around-the-clock logistics operations. As a milestone of ongoing progress, Confidex has collaborated with key logistics operators to develop the Confidex Crosswave™ RFID label family to meet today’s interconnected Logistics 4.0 requirements.
The first member of the product family Confidex Crosswave Classic™ comes with superior performance that is powered by the Impinj Monza 4E™ chip. The RFID labels provide digital identity of the shipments connecting them accurately to the IT systems with various reader setups. “As a key design criteria, the Confidex Crosswave Classic™ RFID logistics label is designed to work reliably –even though the assets face the reader in a wide variety of orientations while being handled.” said Miika Pylvänäinen, Senior Product Manager at Confidex. “This flexibility for RFID label orientation brings consistent read performance to simplify cross-docking and portal applications. Confidex is committed to delivering RFID logistics labels in high volumes, in custom formats, globally and cost-efficiently.”
Warehouse transparency and optimization with RFID RTLS
Passive RFID RTLS (real-time location) systems require the highest level of read consistency and RF sensitivity to provide fast and accurate positioning data. The Confidex Crosswave Classic™ RFID label’s features make it an optimal RFID label for use in passive RFID RTLS. When the warehouse space is continuously monitored, warehouse and distribution center operators can optimize their material flows and the capacity of their valuable real estate. The Confidex Crosswave Classic™ label has sensitive performance and dual-dipole design, which connects the attached goods reliably to the RFID RTLS network and allow the operator to see the real-time data on pallet or shipping units location. The Confidex Crosswave Classic™ RFID label allows assets to shift and turn without appearing to move location. With longer read distance and higher sensitivity, the RFID label also allows faster location updates yielding more granular tracking of assets.
“Logistics 4.0 is driving companies to adopt scalable RAIN RFID solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the supply chain,” said Craig Cotton, vice president of marketing and product at Impinj. “The new Crosswave RAIN RFID label by Confidex can provide real-time data and high-performance at scale for supply chain and logistics organizations, especially when deployed along-side Impinj xArrays.”
“We have tested many tag types with the RF Controls UHF Passive RFID RTLS system and the Crosswave tags have demonstrated superior read ranges and read rates. Along with its high RF sensitivity, the location accuracy is also extremely reliable, making it the optimal choice for tracking assets in location-critical, high-speed reading environments that are common in the logistics space. The form factor is also suitable for tracking a variety of items, from pallets to crates to individual boxed items.” commented Steve Blomberg, product manager at View Technologies.
