Confidex Survivor tags bringing visibility for Swiss Post - RFID Journal

Swisscom Auto-ID has implemented a roll-cage tracking solution for Swiss Post in worth of 4 million Swiss francs with Confidex Survivor tags. In total of 50.000 Survivors were delivered for the application. Swiss Post will use 750 RFID readers in the system  at its three parcel centers and at 44 transportation hubs. Over a million parcels are being transported with roll-cages that needed to be available at the right time in the right place. Before the RFID solution, there was no way to account the roll-cages accurately which then led to unnecessary transportation of roll-cages between sites. Swiss Post reported to expect yearly savings of 1,5 million Swiss francs due to the implementation of RFID because they do not need to count the roll-cages manually any longer and by reducing transportation.

Confidex Survivor tag is created especially for demanding applications where mechanical strength needs to be combined with high RF performance. The Swiss Post application required a EPC C1G2 chip with extended memory so NXP UCODE with 512-bits was chosen.
